Medical Humanities Minor

The interdisciplinary minor in Medical Humanities uses the methods and tools of analysis from ethics, literature, religious studies, and related fields to examine issues of healthcare, medicine, and healing. Students use philosophical, religious, and literary sources to explore how people make meaning in these healthcare-related environments, touching on birth, disease, disability, recovery, and end of life. By learning how great works of the humanities configure suffering and renewal, students prepare themselves to enter fields of public health, nursing, medicine, and related fields with a richer sense of the human story at its most troubling, potent, and potentially transcendent episodes in life.
